Does your dentist offer THIS?

Is a damaged tooth impairing your ability to chew? Has it negatively impacted your self-esteem? To restore function, appearance, and health, we offer CEREC® single-visit dental crowns. Unlike traditional dental crowns, CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramic) makes it possible to restore a tooth in the same amount of time as a dental cleaning and exam.

If you want to know more about this modern dental procedure, continue reading to learn the answers to the most frequently asked questions about CEREC single-visit dental crowns.

How does CEREC work?

Our dentist office uses the latest technology to craft the dental crown in-office. Instead of using dental molds, CEREC dental crowns are designed with x-ray and digital imaging. The design is sent to a CAD/CAM machine that mills the ceramic prosthetic. Upon completion, the dentist adds the finishing touches to the crown and then places it on the damaged tooth. Just like that, your smile is complete again!

Are CEREC crowns as effective as traditional dental crowns?

The saying “good things take time” doesn’t apply to CEREC single-visit dental crowns. These crowns are created from one of the most durable, natural-looking materials: porcelain. Traditional dental crowns can be made from ceramic, metal, resin, and porcelain as well. The same porcelain used in dental labs is used by the CAD/CAM machine to create same-day crowns.

Just like traditional porcelain crowns, CEREC crowns can last more than ten years and preserve your natural tooth’s remaining tooth structure from further decay or damage.

Your dentist can help determine which option is best for your smile by considering the tooth location, your budget, and his own experience.

What are the benefits of CEREC?

The Journal of Dentistry and Oral Care reports these advantages for both the patient and dentist using the CEREC technology:

For patients:

  • Same-day service saves patient’s time
  • No need for a temporary restoration
  • High success rate

For dentists:

  • Eliminates the need for disposable impression materials
  • Reduces outsourcing expenses

Are there any disadvantages?

The downsides of using CEREC technology affect the dentist more than patients. Both the patient and dentist are affected by the higher cost, but a dentist has to learn a new way of creating dental crowns which can seem overwhelming.

If you’re considering CEREC to replace your damaged tooth, be sure to choose a dentist with the education, skill, judgment, support, and ethics to create excellent results.

Are same-day crowns affordable?

To provide the incredible service of same-day crowns, dentists have to pay for training, machines, and other technologies. Because of this, CEREC crowns tend to be more expensive than traditional crowns, but that doesn’t mean you can’t afford them!

Many dental insurance plans cover at least part of the cost of restorative dental procedures. If the entire cost isn’t covered, or if you don’t have dental insurance, ask your dentist about other financing options.

Dr. Cureton and many other dentists around the country accept CareCredit®– a credit card specifically designed to help patients afford healthcare services. Low monthly payments, no up-front costs, and no annual fees allow patients to receive the care they need without stressing over the cost of treatment.
